iBrams 4.2 – first new version by CDO
iBrams 4.2 has become available with immediate effect. The first new version developed under the management of CDO Corporate Design Online GmbH includes more than 200 detailed improvements as well as new functions that improve efficiency. As a result, iBrams is even more flexible and powerful than ever before.
Better Performance
Since every second counts in the intensive workday of marketing and communication professionals, one of the focal points of the further development of iBrams was on improved performance. With iBrams 4.2 processing large documents in particular takes place considerably faster – since, for example, a preview does not render the entire document, but only the required section. In addition, there is no limitation on the size of templates.
The extensive improvements can be most clearly seen in a comparative example. The implementation of an identical sample project (upload of a template including three images, installation of a font, administration of five field rules, setting up a project, allocation of templates and profiles, and the publication of the project) takes place twice as fast and with 45 percent less work steps than with iBrams 3.0.
More Flexibility
A further new function in iBrams 4.2 is the Snippet Manager, an innovative “module management” function, with which InDesign documents can be quickly and simply processed. Snippets are independent InDesign files that can be simply used as modules for other InDesign documents. They can be created from all types of documents on a page – such as tables, text, graphics and much more. In practical application, an active user can insert a Snippet, such as a product specification table, and simultaneously edit its contents in the same work step. Applications such as the design of advertisements, brochures and supplements are thus implemented substantially faster in a simple way. This also applies to subsequent changes, since a correction carried out on a module– such as an address, table or other data – immediately also leads to an update of all design documents that include this module.
The Snippet function in iBrams facilitates the handling of templates, since all contents, formatting and formats are stored unmodified in the Snippet. Additionally, the Snippet Manager offers more possibilities for dynamic web-controlled customization. This gives users more flexibility, allowing them to substantially reduce their workloads. In particular companies with many subsidiaries or branch offices such as automotive manufacturers, pharmacies, or banks can now assign the staff on location to more flexibly individually design a document that is at the same time in line with all corporate design specifications. The end user receives adjustable templates without having to create additional templates.
Clearer Workflows
The new version offers a clearer overview and more transparency for current projects. In addition to the expanded status overview at the “in process” section, effective immediately, all data is transferred automatically to the respective clearance workflow. This allows project managers to have a complete overview of the entire process at all times from the point at which the editor generates a new project, via the clearance of advertising and communication materials by the manager on location, up to the final clearance for production.
More pre-press options
Print shops and pre-press companies also benefit from the new functions of iBrams version 4.2. This includes the option of creating order data as a JDF job ticket. Based on repeated customer requests, it is now also possible to download complete packages consisting of several InDesign files from iBrams. Print shops offering web-to-print portals for smaller graphic design companies can use the self-registration function of iBrams 4.2. This allows interested parties to independently register and upload print jobs along with the respective files following a brief verification - a new option that equally benefits providers and users.
What’s more, the new interfaces of version 4.2 considerably facilitate integrating the program into existing system environments, while further interface languages are now also available including language version such as Korean, Russian and Chinese (simplified).
All customers who already apply iBrams version 4.0 can update to the new version as part of the maintenance contract. For all other customers, version 4.2 is available as an upgrade. Do not hesitate to contact us with any inquiries regarding the latest version of iBrams.
